The Knight in the cabin game
A long event the 2nd wave shortened — still not a free turn.
The Knight is an Event Card minigame with a reputation for stalling the table. Twisted Corridor’s 2nd wave of bug fixes (Steam news, 29 August 2026) shortened the turn length for The Knight event and added an honest aside: they are still working on making this event less grueling. This page is how to live through that card without donating the clock track to the monster pawn. It is not a complete official script. Early Access still hides too much of the event text, and the studio asked players who have figured out clues and events to say what stumped them so a real tutorial can be built.
The cabin game entered Early Access on 27 August 2026 on Steam Windows. 1–4 players, solo or online co-op, 30+ cards, 12 monsters. The Knight is one named event in that pool. It is not a lobby character you pick. You draw it, or a teammate greed-plays it, and then the cabin answers. Press M. The 2nd wave added more in-game tips and asked you to reread the ones you skipped.
Why this event got its own patch line
Most events in the current mix are either a chase (Attic Stalker, Giant Monkey) or a readable riddle (Cutting Corner, Sick of Being Dead). The Knight sat in a worse bucket: the turn itself was too long. A long event is a tax even when you “win,” because winning Event Cards often pays nothing while the clock and the monster pawn keep moving. Shortening the turn does not make the Knight free. It makes it less of a two-minute hostage situation.
If your group’s footage is from 27–28 August 2026, throw that timing out. Relearn the event on a post-2nd-wave build. If the turn still feels endless, you may be on an old depot — verify files using the steps on hosting.
The studio also said they are still working on the Knight. Treat any “solved” clip as dated. Patch notes and the Optimization Update are where later retunes will land.
How to play it at the table
Do not greed The Knight while the clue notebook is empty. Event Cards yank you into 3D. A loss pulls the ghost closer on the clock track. A win is often just survival. That is the same tax described on survive events and event cards. The Knight is simply the tax that used to last too long.
When the card is already in play:
- Keep one player seated if you are in co-op. Someone has to watch the pawns while the rest of you are in the event space. Table rules exist for this.
- Press M before you improvise. The 2nd wave changed several tips on purpose.
- Do not throw a Boo Factory trick into the event. Treats mess with friends; they also fail minigames.
- When it ends, sit, write one line in the notebook, check both pawns, then go back to investigation. Surviving the Knight is not escaping. Escaping is entering the correct room before 12.
If the event still feels unread after the shortened turn, that is a teaching gap the studio has already named. They are conceptualizing an in-game tutorial and asked for reports about which events and clues confused people. Send that on the official Discord, not as a one-line “Knight bad” comment.
Layout that makes a long event survivable
The Knight, like every other event, inherits the cabin you already built. A loop of hallways from room layout lets you kite if the minigame becomes a chase. A dead-end Cellar off the Dining Room becomes a coffin. The Dining Room is the starting room; snap later spaces as if you will need to walk back to the table after the Knight resolves.
Attic and basement geometry also changed in the same 2nd-wave patch: ladder collision and keybinds that trapped climbers, plus basement-breaker binds. If The Knight sends you through those spaces, you want that patch installed. A stuck climb is a longer turn than the Knight itself.
Solo players should be harsher. One body cannot watch the pawn and run the event. Time-skip cards will tempt you after a long Knight. Do not skip to “get past it” if you still do not know the rule. You will draw it again. Read solo for why skip density already pads two-hour nights.
What The Knight is not
It is not the suited Neighbour in storage. It is not the attic stalker with totems. It is not Cutting Corner’s man who has to turn. Mixing those names is how groups bring the wrong habit into the room. File The Knight as its own long event. If a later patch renames or splits it, this page will follow the Steam news, not a rumour.
It is also not a reason to host on mixed versions. If someone cannot start their turn, that is the mismatch note, not the Knight. Fix the lobby first.
After the event
Sit. Check the clock. If the monster pawn is close, a Lifesaver Card is the undo, not another Event Card “for content.” Then go back to naming the escape with clues and how to escape. The Monsters Hub stays incomplete on purpose: twelve monsters are in the build, and public notes do not publish a full roster. The Knight is listed here because the studio named it in a patch. That is enough to give it a page. It is not enough to invent a bestiary entry.
Play on Steam. Report on Discord. This wiki is unofficial. A shortened Knight is still a tax. Pay it fast, then get back to the Dining Room chair.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about cards, clues, monsters, and escaping the cabin.
Did a patch change The Knight?
Yes. The 2nd wave of bug fixes shortened its turn length and said more work is coming to make it less grueling. Confirm you are on that build via patch notes.
Should we play The Knight on purpose?
Not on a blank notebook. Event losses pull the ghost closer; wins often pay nothing. See survive events before you greed the card.
Is The Knight one of the twelve monsters?
It is a named Event Card encounter. This wiki will not invent a full bestiary slot. File it as a long minigame, not as a lobby pick. Roster context: monster roster.
Why does our Knight still last forever?
You may be on a pre-2nd-wave depot. Verify files and update. Hosting covers version mismatch. The studio also said they are still retuning the event.
Can Boo Factory treats help?
No. Tricks 'n treats mess with teammates and can fail the minigame. Spend Lifesaver Cards on the pawn track instead.
