the cabin game The Basement Event
Fix every breaker. Avoid Sparky. Return to the table. Sit down together.
The Basement is the Event Card that sends the group into a repair-focused minigame. Your group needs to repair every breaker box in the area and then return to the game table and sit down together to complete the event. The complication is Sparky, an electrical hazard that roams while you are working on the breakers.
This page is the event recipe. Practical survival habits for the whole event pool live on Survive Events. Danger versus readability ranking lives on event cards. Do not treat this like a sprint puzzle; timing and positioning beat speed here. If you need general event habits or chase tips, start with survive events.
the cabin game entered Early Access on 27 August 2026. 1–4 online co-op or solo, Steam Windows, $11.99 USD, 30+ cards, 12 monsters, English-only in-game.
How to repair the breakers
Breaker boxes appear around the area. An unfinished breaker has a red light above it. Walk up to one and interact with it to begin the repair.
The repair takes some time — you need to remain at the breaker while the progress bar fills. If you move away before it completes, the repair does not finish.
Once a breaker is repaired, the light above it turns green. Continue to the next one.
The number of breakers can change depending on the number of players and the difficulty setting. Fewer players means fewer breakers, but also fewer hands to cover the ground.
How to avoid Sparky
Sparky roams through the area while you are repairing the breakers. Keep an eye on Sparky’s location and avoid getting too close.
Some areas may look like good hiding spots, but they do not always seem completely reliable. In general, it is safer to keep track of Sparky and avoid crossing directly into his path than to try to hide in a corner.
Moving between breakers quickly is tempting but running creates noise. Sparky investigates sound. Walk between objectives and use connected rooms to break line of sight rather than hiding in dead ends.
How to finish The Basement
Repairing the final breaker does not immediately complete the event. After every breaker is repaired:
- Return to the game table.
- Every surviving player must sit down at their chair.
- Wait for everyone to be seated.
- The event then ends.
This final step catches groups who scatter after the last repair. If even one player is not seated at the table, the event does not close. Call “all breakers done” and direct everyone back to chairs immediately.
Co-op strategy for The Basement
Assign players to different areas of the basement. More players covering more ground simultaneously means faster completion and less total exposure time.
One player should watch Sparky’s movement and call danger zones. If Sparky is heading toward a player fixing a breaker, that player should abandon the repair and move — the progress is lost but the player is not eliminated.
After the last breaker, everyone moves to the table together. Do not sprint ahead and sit down alone — wait for the group. If someone is still fixing when you arrive at chairs, call their name and wait.
After The Basement resolves
Sit down. Check both pawns on the clock track. Write one sentence in the clue notebook: The Basement, cleared, or The Basement, Sparky caught X. Then return to investigation. This event does not name the escape room. How to Escape and clues still decide the win.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about cards, clues, monsters, and escaping the cabin.
How do you complete The Basement?
Repair every breaker box until all lights are green, then return to the game table and have every surviving player sit down. The event does not end until everyone is seated at the table.
What happens if I leave a breaker before it finishes?
The repair does not complete. You need to return to that breaker and stay until the progress bar fills. Leaving early wastes time.
What is Sparky?
An electrical hazard that roams the basement area while you are repairing breakers. Sparky investigates sounds and paths. Keep track of its location and avoid crossing directly into its route.
Does completing the breakers end the event immediately?
No. After the last breaker is repaired, every player must return to the game table and sit down. The event only closes when all surviving players are seated.
What if Sparky catches me?
You are eliminated from the event. The remaining players continue repairing breakers. The event does not end until all breakers are fixed AND everyone is seated.
Does The Basement identify the escape room?
No. The Basement is a repair minigame with a table-return requirement, not an investigation. Sit down after and return to clues.
